My Story by H.
I Was Sexually Assaulted During a Marma Therapy Session by Nizar Mohamed, co-owner of OneBhakthi.
On 13th November 2023, I attended a Marma therapy session at OneBhakthi in Kabalana, Ahangama, after it was recommended by a friend and praised in the local spiritual community.
The session was intense and painful from the beginning, but I was told to “scream and let it out” — that this was part of the healing. As the treatment progressed, the practitioner removed my underwear without consent and began touching and applying pressure to areas near and eventually inside my genitals. I was in shock and unable to speak clearly. At the end, he told me the technique was “sacred,” asked me to keep it secret, and invited me to return weekly.
At first, I tried to convince myself this might be normal in Marma therapy. But the pain, confusion, and shame lingered. Later, I learned I was not the only woman who had this experience with him.
What happened to me was not healing. It was sexual assault and has now been reported to the police.
I’m sharing this because silence protects abusers, not victims. No one should have to wonder whether what happened to them was “part of the process.” If something feels wrong — it is.
